Letter from the Executive Vice President

Dear Friends,

The height of black truffle harvest season is approaching, and I am excited to announce that North Carolina will soon be home to the largest black truffle orchard, or truffière, in North America.

Black Diamond French Truffles founder Susan Rice has a vision of transforming North Carolina’s Sandhills into the Napa valley equivalent of truffle cultivation. The company is investing millions of dollars to transform 200 acres of farmland near Pinehurst golf resort into a black goldmine.

Black truffles are becoming more difficult to grow and harvest in their native Europe, as they are increasingly sought after by chefs and connoisseurs worldwide. In North Carolina, they have the potential to revolutionize the farm industry – acre for acre, black truffles yield nearly ten times the value of tobacco.

We are very excited about this venture and look forward to sharing our experiences. If you have questions or comments, please feel free to contact me at Charles@BDFT.com.

Thanks,

Charles Warren
